Ten Most Wanted For 2009
Top Ten Big Budget Games for 2009
Howdy Ya’ll,
The most important market for Holiday Season gaming (from a revenue standpoint) is bound to be the titles from the “Big Budget” studios. With those huge budgets and huge resources available one would think that the entertainment to be had from playing their titles will be, well– huge. We will have to wait and see fellow game fans, but here, in no particular order is the short-list of my ten most wanted stocking-stuffers for Christmas Day (with a few honorable mentions thrown in for good measure):
1. Afro Samurai - Based on the Spike TV cult hit, this game has all the hard-pounding action you could wish for and more. Voices include Samuel Jackson and Ron Silver.
2. The Godfather 2 - Based roughly on the movies made from Mario Puzo’s famous novel, this is the sequel to what proved to be a fun game the first time out. Your character is a Don this time (just not a Corleone, capeesh?).
3. Ghostbusters - Picking up a couple of years after the movies left off, you play a new recruit in their NYC office. Lots of fun & lots of action!
4. God of War 3 - The first two in the series were great, and this one should be even better. With the new effects and what not– this could be the best one ever. As far as big budget-big action titles go this one promises to set the standard for this year’s offerings.
5. Final Fantasy 8 - The plot is a big secret, but fans of this series are ready for a peek. It has been a while in the making and promises to be a thriller.
6. BioShock 2 - “Sea Of Dreams” was previewed for Playstation 3 gamers via a trailer that didn’t really give much away. One thing is for sure, it will be in stores and on the shelves in time for the holiday rush.
7. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin - Originally singled-out for its story-driven effects and game play, this one promises a bigger game environment with scarier monsters and bigger guns. What’s not to like?
8. Skate 2 - The new king of skate games will feature more options and more moves than ever before. Should be O.K. though as long as you remember to wear your helmet.
9. Resident Evil 5 -African zomies? Oh Yea. This is perhaps the single most anticipated title of 2009.Gamers are hot to try their hand at the faster game play with more options and weapons to boot.
10. Red Faction: Guerrilla - This game has story. You are a humble mine worker who goes to Mars (happens every day- right?), but the boss man ain’t treating you right. So you join up with a bunch of hot-heads and start in on the old “Revolution Thang” in the classic Mott the Hoople style. And from the looks of things the game play is going to be red hot.
Additionally (again in no particular order), here are some titles that seem to merit an honorable mention:
- Halo Wars
- Street Fighter 4
- Killzone 2
- Tekken 6
- Call Of Duty: MW2
Good luck finding time to play them all!
